Result! An important part of business, because without results no success. An important condition for this is alignment. For years, both professional journals and scientific research are frequently dominated by connecting business processes and information technology. These so-called business alignment issue was brought to worldwide attention in 1993. The broad meaning of the term business alignment is unambiguous: it refers to the alignment of operations, business processes and information technology in an organization. The starting point for VentureFutures is that aligning business, processes and IT in an organization should not be regarded as an end in itself, but that the completion of alignment leading to the joint realization of added value. This should be reflected in an effective and efficient business in which IT and business processes actively contribute to the discovery and realization of business opportunities. The contribution must ultimately be measurable for a commercial enterprise as a positive contribution to the operating result. For the public sector, this means that the use of ICT and optimization of processes should contribute measurably to objectives such as lowering operating costs, improving service and increasing the transparency and thus the controllability of the (primary) process. The premise is that alignment increasingly forms an integral part of the business and therefore should make a positive contribution to the profit of an organization.
